Since the beginning of this century,
the protection and conservation of our natural heritage has been recognised
by the general public as a theme of interest.
1 Million African elephants were killed for their
ivory.
Both the African and Asiatic rhinoceros which have been hunted for their
horns are on the verge of extinction.
Help is also required for the 5000 remaining Asiatic tigers.
27 acres of forest are being destroyed every minute (equivalent
to 37 football fields).
Thus, also affected are the primates and other savannah and jungle animals.
Having been driven from their original habitat they have either become
victims of the meat trade, sold as trophies, or misused as pets or circus
animals.
- Destruction and fragmentation of their habitat.
- Inbreeding
- Trading with fur, trophies and living animals
- Traditional oriental medicine using material derived from highly
endangered species (Bears, Tigers, Leopards, Rhinoceros, Pangolins)
All these factors contribute to the destruction of wildlife.
Our planet is being excessively exploited, without respect and more important,
in an irreversible manner.
Passive live and let-live is a luxury
which we cannot afford
in today’s world.
However it’s still not too late:
You can help us to protect our natural heritage.
